Privately owned public service vehicle mini-buses in the Kenya ferrying people to different parts of the country.

E-Sacco

A name given to the proposed fleet management application for this project.

Matatu Sacco

Registered companies managing the matatus and buses in the public transportation industry in Kenya.

Fleet Management

The management of commercial vehicles, in this case management of matatus including planning trips, allocating drivers, collecting reports etc.

1. Matatu Saccos

The project client is very important. Resposnible of giving features and functionalities for the development of the application.

2. Matatu Owners

Are target users of the mobile application. Should register their vehicles under Saccos through the mobile app.

3. System developer

Developer of the application. The role of the developer is analyzing the requirements and performance of the application.

4. Business Analyst

The business analyst will be liaison among the project stakeholders. Very important in the sucess of the project.

5. Matatu drivers and touts

The matatu drivers are employees of the saccos thus are users of the application. Their role is to use the mobile application to view their trips and any other tasks assigned to them.

6. Potential Passengers

Participate in the surveys to give an oversight of the public transportation industry and their experience in the different Matatu Sacco Vehicles.

The concept of E-Sacco Fleet Manager is to automate the management of saccos. The application will benefit both matatu saccos and matatu owners by digitally managing the public service vehicles and keeping track of their records other relying on manual management and paper work.

The application has made me take the resposnibility of a Business analyst and lead the activities in the project. I elicited requirements from stakeholders and prioritized them with MOSCOW then made specifications document.

Surveys

Online survey to gather insights on the operation of matatu Sacco and the need for digitization.

Brainstorming

Held with three stakeholders; Matatu Sacco, Matatu Owner and software developer. To get understanding of the requirements of the app.

Prototype

Wireframe presentation to understand the requirements and view the layout and design of the application.

Requirements Workshop

An online Workshop to review the prototype and come up with recommendations and critiques for an improved version creation. To gather more requirements.

Interface Analysis

Explanation of the interaction of different users with the system through the use case diagrams.
